WTA Tour veteran Shelby Rogers was as shocked as anybody to find that one of her workout videos had gone viral.

Rogers joked that she was trying to be on trend to stay with it.

Her video which she filmed five years ago, made its way to the social media accounts of Will Smith who reshared Rogers’ video in which she’s seen doing lower-body stretches with kettle bells while in a handstand position.

“My trainer and I spent like 40 minutes trying to film this video,” Rogers told Tennis Channel correspondent Prakash Amritraj at their desk set up for the Madrid Open. “It’s so funny because we did this five years ago … It popped up on my phone as a memory, and I shared it again.

“I’m officially viral now! My first viral video.”

Rogers claims that this is her first viral video but the 31-year-old American has over 60,000 Instagram followers and regularly posts to her account.

She shared that her 22-year-old coach Jakub Ostajewski is part of the reason she gets onto Instagram to post as often as she does.

“I have Kuba here with me, and he’s 22, so I have to get in all the Gen Z trends. I’ve gotta be cool again! I’m trying to keep up,” Rogers joked.

Rogers has a new perspective on life on the WTA Tour thanks to her most recent injury layoff.

She had knee surgery last year, which kept her out of the second part of the season. Last month in Miami, she won her first match in over a year to announce that she was truly back in the game.

“I’ve been on tour 13, 14 years now, which feels like a blink of an eye. But at the same time, you can go to all of these cities which are beautiful, but we go every year, and you can get in a routine and sort of take some things for granted, I feel like,” she said.

“I wanted to just be able to take a step back, be outside of myself a little bit, and just really appreciate everything around it. It helps me be a little more present, which is just helpful for playing tennis better, enjoying everything, finding joy in the little things.”

Rogers made a great start to her Madrid Open tilt as she swept to a straight sets win over China’s Shuai Zhang.

In the Round of 64, she will face Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova over whom she holds a 1-0 career head-to-head record.
