French Open champion Simona Halep confirms new coach ahead of Qatar Open

Reigning French Open champion Simona Halep has appointed Belgian Thierry Van Cleemput as her new coach.
The former world No 1 went at it alone at this year’s Australian Open after her former coach Darren Cahill stepped down at the end of the 2018 campaign.
However, WTA Insider reports that Halep and Van Cleemput were spotted working together at Melbourne Park and the Romanian’s PR manager has confirmed the Belgian as her new coach.
They will officially start working together at the Qatar Open, which starts on February 11.
Van Cleemput previously worked with David Goffin and he helped his compatriot to reach the ATP world top 10, but the pair split at the start of the season.
