‘I’m pi**ed to lose that one’ – Bianca Andreescu admits defeat to Naomi Osaka rankles

Bianca Andreescu admits that she wasn’t happy to lose against Naomi Osaka at the China Open, especially given how well she played.
Osaka and Andreescu have won half of the Grand Slams between them this year, and they played out a brilliant quarter-final in Beijing, with the American coming out on top 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 to snap Andreescu’s impressive 17-match winning streak.
Afterwards, Andreescu certainly seemed to have mixed feelings over the result.
“I forgot how it feels [to lose],” said Andreescu. Honestly, it sucks. I didn’t miss it at all.
“But at least I didn’t get whooped 1 and 1. I put on a fight. Honestly, it could have went either way. It was just some points here and there.
“At the same time I am pi**ed, but at the same time I’m proud of myself with how I played today. I really fought, especially in that last game. Holy crap, that was crazy.”
It was the pair’s first meeting, but Andreescu is sure it will not be their last in what could easily become a storied rivalry.
“I think we’re going to have many matches like this” she predicted.
“Our game styles are pretty different, but they level up pretty equally.”
