Johanna Konta ditches coach after suffering disastrous season

Johanna Konta celebrates

Johanna Konta has parted company with her coach Michael Joyce after a disastrous 2018.

The British number one started the year inside the WTA Tour’s top 10, but has now sank to 45.

Konta had looked set for big things when she reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon last year but it simply hasn’t worked out with Joyce.

She has not been further than the second round of a Grand Slam all season and has reached just one final – in Nottingham.

She hopes to have a new coach in place for the start of winter training.
