How much money and points did Coco Gauff, Zheng Qinwen and Aryna Sabalenka earn at the 2024 WTA Finals?
Coco Gauff has been crowned 2024 WTA Finals champion as the American defeated Zheng Qinwen in the showpiece match in Riyadh.
Aged just 20, Gauff won the WTA Finals for the first time as she took her career tally to nine. She has now completed her WTA Tour “career set” as she has won a WTA title at every tournament level (WTA Finals, Grand Slam, WTA 1000, WTA 500 and WTA 250).
The American also walked away with a lot cash and points as big money was on offer at the season-ending event as the WTA announced a record $15.25 million prize pool for the event, a $6.25m increase from last year’s Finals in Cancun.
The winner was always assured of taking home at least $4.45m, which surpassed the previous best of $4.42m that Ashleigh Barty earned when she won the 2019 WTA Finals in Shenzhen, China.
But Gauff actually earned more than $4.45m as she collected a total of $4.805 million for her efforts in Saudi Arabia.
The 2023 US Open champion started her campaign with a $335,000 participation fee and she earned $700,000 for her round-robin wins over Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula.
Victory over Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-final increased her tally by $1,270,000 and her win over Zheng in the final was worth $2,500,000 for a total of $4.805m.
Before Saturday’s win, Gauff had earned $4,548,847 in 2024 so her prize-money earnings for the year will double while she will break through the $20m prize money for career-prize money.
Zheng, meanwhile, collected $2,305,000 for her efforts in Riyadh as she also won two round-robin matches ($700,000) to go with the participation fee of $335,000 and the semi-final win over Barbora Krejcikova ($1,270,000).
