Petra Kvitova sweeps into Prague semis, but Sam Stosur out
Petra Kvitova claimed another twos-set win to reach the semi-final of the Prague Open, but Sam Stosur crashed out.
The second-seeded Kvitova beat fellow Czech and eighth seed Katerina Siniakova 6-3, 6-3 to set up a last-four match against Zhang Shuai.
However, it wasn’t as straightforward as it looked as Siniakova actually broke the two-time Grand Slam winner in the opening game of the match, but she couldn’t consolidate her advantage as Kvitova hit back immediately to make it 1-1 before claiming the crucial break in game eight.
Three breaks of serve in the second set were more than enough to earn the 28-year-old the win.
