A cameraman at the Internationaux de Strasbourg has come under fire from Danielle Collins as the American was left unimpressed by the TV operator’s “wildly inappropriate” behaviour.

Collins took on Emma Raducanu during the second round of the WTA 500 tournament with the incident occurring midway during deciding set with to score 3-3 and both players sitting on their benches at the changeover.

The world No 46 gets up from her seat and starts walking towards the water cooler and then tells the cameraman: “I need to get water. We’re on a changeover. You don’t need to be that close to me, and you don’t need to be on top of Emma.

“It’s like wildly inappropriate. It’s not that difficult to give space. I’m sorry.”

And to be fair to Collins, at the end of the video the cameraman can seen standing very close to Raducanu, who was standing behind her bench sipping water.

On the way to resuming play she also told the umpire: “You need to get that man out of here.”

The 31-year-old bounced back from losing the opening set to beat Raducanu 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 and set up a quarter-final clash against Anna Kalinskaya, who upset top seed Jessica Pegula in three sets.

But there was more from the usually feisty Collins during the on-court interview as she vowed not to “go through life quietly”.

“To be good at anything, self-expression is really important. There aren’t many successful people that feel like they can’t be themselves,” she stated courtside.

“I’m a competitor at the end of the day, I’m not meek and mild, I’m not someone that is going through life quietly.

“I want to succeed and I know what it takes to succeed. At this level, you have to compete. This is what competing is about, bringing the energy, showing positive emotion, and sometimes negative emotion and being upset with yourself, and then trying to work through those moments.

“It can be hard in the world we live in because of the noise and criticism, but at the end of the day if you go out and try to be yourself, and try to compete hard and do the best you can, good things will happen.”

Collins has never been shy to have a say as at this year’s Australian Open she mocked fans who booed her during her win over local hope Destanee Aiava.

She cupped her ear in celebration, blew kisses to spectators and also gestured for fans to kiss her bottom.

“I was thinking through the match, I might as well just take that big fat pay cheque,” the American said on court.

“Coco [Gauff] and I, we love a good five-star vacation so part of that cheque will go towards that so thank you. Thank you for coming out here and supporting us tonight.

“Thanks everyone … thanks guys, love you.”
