Wimbledon champion Garbine Muguruza signs up for Birmingham Classic

Garbine Muguruza will once again use the Birmingham Classic to prepare for her Wimbledon challenge.
The two-time Grand Slam winner reached the semi-finals at Edgbaston Priory Club last year and three weeks later she won her maiden title SW19 title.
“It was an incredible few weeks for me playing on the grass last year,” the Spaniard said. “Winning my first Wimbledon title was so special and I can’t wait to play in front of British crowds again.
“The courts in Birmingham are great and it’s always a very strong line-up of players. It’s a wonderful event that I always enjoy playing.”
The event takes place from June 16-24 and defending champion Petra Kvitova and British No 1 Johanna Konta have also been confirmed for the tournament.
