WTA Rankings: Danielle Collins +7, Iga Swiatek moves level with WTA legend
Danielle Collins’ stunning ranking surge has continued after the American sealed a second straight title in her final year on the WTA Tour.
Just eight days after lifting the title at the WTA 1000 event in Miami, Collins claimed the fourth title of her career at the WTA 500 event in Charleston, dropping just one set and extending her winning run to 13 matches.
Having moved up a staggering 31 ranking spots to 22nd following her victory in Miami, Collins has now made a significant move inside the top 20 of the WTA Rankings.
The 30-year-old jumped seven spots to world No 15, her highest ranking since the Australian Open last year and just eight places off her career high of seventh.

Collins is also now the third highest-ranked American in the WTA Rankings, trailing only world No 3 Coco Gauff and world No 5 Jessica Pegula, and moving ahead of Madison Keys – who fell two spots to 20th – and Emma Navarro, who dropped one spot to 21st.
Her surge could significantly impact the race to the Olympic Games, with a maximum of four players from one country allowed to compete in singles action.
Another American has also moved up the rankings thanks to a run in Charleston, with Taylor Townsend moving up 11 spots to 57th after reaching the third round.
Also making a significant leap up the rankings was Camila Osorio, who claimed the second WTA title of her career at the WTA 250 event in Bogota, having also won her first title on home turf three years ago.
Starting last week ranked 85th in the world, victory over Marie Bouzkova in Sunday’s final has seen the Colombian move up 22 spots to become the world No 63.
Bouzkova’s run to the final has also seen the Czech star move back inside the top 40 of the rankings, now 35th after rising seven places.
However, 2023 champion Tatjana Maria has dropped down 20 places after an early exit in her title defence, falling to world No 66.

At the top of the game, the most significant mover is Ons Jabeur – but the Tunisian has not moved positively.
The three-time Grand Slam finalist lost to Danielle Collins in the first match of her Charleston title defence and fell three spots to ninth in the rankings.
Maria Sakkari, Zheng Qinwen, and Marketa Vondrousova all moved up one spot thanks to Jabeur’s fall, now ranked sixth, seventh, and eighth respectively.
The WTA top five remain unchanged, with Iga Swiatek still clear of the field as world No 1.
And the Pole has now moved level with three-time Grand Slam winner Lindsay Davenport at 98 weeks in the top spot, the joint-ninth most weeks at the top of the WTA Rankings of all time.
With Swiatek holding a significant cushion over world No 2 Aryna Sabalenka, the Pole will hit 100 weeks at the top later this month and will have Justine Henin’s 117 weeks in her sights next.
