Aryna Sabalenka continues to dominate at the top of the WTA Rankings, but former world No 1 Iga Swiatek has returned to the top five while rising stars Maya Joint and Alex Eala have climbed to new career highs.

Reigning world No 1 Sabalenka was one of several stars who opted to sit out the final WTA Tour events the week before Wimbledon with the Belarusian already assured of being top of the rankings after the grass-court major.

The three-time Grand Slam winner has maintained her 3,741-point lead over Coco Gauff in the standings and, combined with the fact that she doesn’t have any points to defend at Wimbledon after missing the 2024 edition due to injury, she will keep the No 1 ranking after the tournament.

The 27-year-old has been the leader of the pack since October 2024 and has spent a combined 45 weeks at No 1, putting her 14th in the overall list for most weeks at the top.

Jessica Pegula remains well adrift of Gauff in third place, but she also has a buffer over fourth-placed Swiatek, who is up to fourth place, following the Bad Homburg Open.

American Pegula defeated five-time Grand Slam winner Swiatek in the WTA 500 final to consolidate her position while the Pole moved up four places following her recent slump. The Bad Homburg event was Swiatek’s first final since she lifted the Roland Garros trophy last June.

Jasmine Paolini, Zheng Qinwen, Mirra Andreeva, Madison Keys, Paola Badosa and Emma Navarro complete the top 10.

Diana Shnaider dropped three places to No 15 as she was the defending champion in Bad Homburg, but lost in the first round while 2024 Eastbourne Open champion Daria Kasatkina is down two places to No 18 after she also fell early at Devonshire Park.

Emma Raducanu facing rankings collapse after daunting Wimbledon draw

Points and money earned by Maya Joint, Alex Eala, Emma Raducanu at Eastbourne

Youngsters Joint and Eala contested this year’s Eastbourne final and it was the 19-year-old Australian who came out on top as she defeated Eala in three sets to lift her second career title.

The teenager is up 10 places to a new high of No 41 while the 20-year-old Eala – who was playing in her maiden top-level final – surges 18 places to No 56.

Joint dis just one place below Emma Raducanu with the British No 1 down two places after she lost to the Australian in the second round of the WTA 250 event while fellow Brits Katie Boulter sits at No 43 and Sonay Kartal 51.

Meanwhile, former world No 1 Victoria Azarenka is back in the top 100 as she climbed 18 places to No 87 after winning a couple of matches in Germany while Varvara Gracheva’s run to the semi-final in Eastbourne earned her a 19-place rise to No 92.

Leylah Fernandez was one of the biggest fallers as she is down nine places to No 38 after a second-round defeat at Bad Homburg.
