The top 10 WTA stars with the most matches played in 2026: Alex Eala No 1
Seven WTA stars have already played 50 top-level matches so far in 2026 with rising star Alex Eala headlining the list for most matches played this campaign on both the WTA Tour and WTA 125K level.
Filipina Eala played only 64 matches during her breakthrough season in 2025, but she is already just a handful of matches away from that tally with three months of the current campaign still remaining.
Last year, Iga Swiatek played a total of 81 matches as she finished the year with a 64–17 win-loss record, Elena Rybakina 78, Jessica Pegula played 76 matches and Aryna Sabalenka 75.
Here’s the current top 10 WTA stars with the most matches played so far in 2026 (as of 20 August)…
10. Aryna Sabalenka – 48
The reigning world No 1 has reached four finals this year with one coming at the Australian Open and two at WTA 1000 events, which comes to 19 matches.

WTA Rankings Race To Indian Wells: Elena Rybakina overtakes Aryna Sabalenka, Alex Eala 15th
But Sabalenka has suffered a slump in recent weeks as she played only three matches at the Canadian Open and another three at the Cincinnati Open, suffering early exits.
The four-time Grand Slam winner is currently 40-8 for the year, having won three titles (Brisbane International, Indian Wells Open and Miami Open).
=8. Iva Jovic – 49
The 18-year-old has surged to a career-high No 16 in the WTA Rankings this year and that came on the back of a run to the quarter-final of the Australian Open and a runner-up finish at the Hobart International.
The teenager’s tally also includes a couple of Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers for the United States.
=8. Sorana Cirstea – 49
The Romanian enjoyed a brilliant start to the 2026 season as she won her home title, the Transylvania Open, in February, reached the semi-final of the Italian Open and the quarter-final at the French Open.
Cirstea is already enjoying her best season to date in terms of wins as her win-loss record is 36-13 compared to her previous best of 34–27 in 2013.
7. Coco Gauff – 50
The two-time Grand Slam winner is yet to win a title in 2026 as she finished runner-up at the Miami Open and Italian Open.
She has also reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open and Wimbledon and remains alive at the 2026 Cincinnati Open so could add a few more matches to her tally before the US Open gets underway in just over a week.
Gauff has a win-loss record of 37-13 so far this campaign.
6. Tatjana Maria – 51
Only 42 of Maria’s matches have been at WTA Tour level (19-23), with the rest coming at WTA 125K level.
The German finished runner-up at the Eastbourne International (WTA Tour) and won the WTA 125K Hall of Fame in July.
5. Mirra Andreeva – 53
The teenager won her maiden Grand Slam when she won the French Open while she also finished runner-up at the Madrid Open. Outside of the big events, Andreeva won the Adelaide International and Linz Open.
Last year, Andreeva played a total of 57 matches (40-17) so she is well on her way to beating that record.
=2. Elina Svitolina – 54
The Ukrainian won the Auckland Open and Italian Open while she finished runner-up at the Dubai Tennis Championships.
Svitolina, who played 50 matches during the 2025 season, also reached the semi-final of the Australian Open and quarter-final of the French Open.
=2. Jessica Pegula – 54
The American won the Dubai Tennis Championships in February and the Charleston Open in April while she also finished runner-up at the Berlin Open and Washington DC Open.
Pegula regularly features on the list for most matches played during a season, but she still has some way to go to top her 2023 record of 77 (59-18 win-loss record).
=2. Elena Rybakina – 54
The reigning Australian Open champion played seven matches during her title run at Melbourne Park while she also finished runner-up at the Indian Wells Open and Canadian Open.
Her other title so far in 2026 has come at the Stuttgart Open, but she played only four matches in Germany.
Rybakina had a 59–19 win-loss record in 2025.
1. Alex Eala – 58
Only 48 of Eala’s matches so far in 2026 have been on WTA Tour level, but they all count to her overall tally.
The Filipina star played five matches during her title run at the WTA 125K Birmingham Open in June while she also competed at the Manila 125K in February.
Eala, of course, also won five matches en route to her maiden WTA Tour title at the Washington Open DC at the end of July.
Her win-loss record sits at 38-20 following her round of 32 defeat at the Cincinnati Open.
