Laver Cup set to return to iconic venue as 2026 host venue announced

The Laver Cup is set to return to London in 2026 – four years after Roger Federer famously called time on his career at the 2022 edition of the event.
Federer’s took to court one final time in a memorable doubles clash alongside longtime rival Rafael Nadal when the O2 Arena last played host to the men’s team event four years ago.
The Swiss, a co-founder of the event, was also joined by the likes of Novak Djokovic for his retirement ceremony, arguably the most famous moment in the event’s short history.
In what will mark four years from Federer’s departure from the sport, the O2 Arena will again play host to the Laver Cup – and the 20-time Grand Slam champion could not be more pleased.
“My final match in 2022 was filled with emotion and unforgettable memories – being surrounded by my teammates who were also my greatest rivals – it was everything I could have hoped for,” said Federer, on the Laver Cup website.
“I’m really looking forward to returning to such a meaningful place, this time as a fan, and experiencing the incredible Laver Cup atmosphere once again.”

Laver Cup chairman Tony Godsick added: “We are thrilled to be bringing the Laver Cup back to London, one of the world’s great sporting cities.
“London set a new benchmark in 2022, delivering one of the most successful and emotional editions of the event to date.
“While we’ve traditionally taken the Laver Cup to new cities around the world each year, the response from London – from fans, partners and players – was truly overwhelming.
“The appetite to see Laver Cup return was impossible to ignore, and we’re excited to once again bring this unique tennis event back to The O2.”
The choice to host the event in London once again signals a change in approach for the event, which first launched back in 2017.
Since the inaguaral edition of the tournament, which was held in Prague eight years ago, the event has been held in different cities across Europe and North America.
Last year’s edition of the event, won by Team Europe, was held in Berlin, while action will head to San Francisco for the 2025 competition, held between September 19-21.
The 2026 event will be held from September 25-27.
The 2024 edition of the event in Berlin saw Team Europe regain their title with a narrow 13-11 win over Team World, with Carlos Alcaraz beating Taylor Fritz in the decisive rubber.
That came after an emphatic 13-2 win for Team World in Vancouver in 2023, having lifted the title for the first time in London the previous year.
To date, Team Europe holds a 5-2 record over Team World across the seven previous editions of the event.
